What is a Functional Assessment?
Our Functional Assessment looks at several key areas including:
– Objective Strength Measures
– Joint and Tissue Mobility
– Proprioception (balance)
– Functional Movement Performance
All of these things are principal factors in your ability to execute your sport of choice at an optimum level.
During your Functional Assessment, our experienced physiotherapist will take you through a range of motions designed to mimic muscle activation patterns specific to your sport. Real time feedback on the amount of force applied provides quantifiable data, allowing for impairments in strength and objective movement patterns to be identified quickly and in a repeatable manner.
Using this information, we will create an individualized strength and mobility program designed to remedy discrepancies, lessen your risk of injury and enhance performance.
Who can benefit from a Functional Assessment?
From weekend warriors, to competitive and professional athletes, to those just getting moving again after some time away from activity, our Functional Assessment can benefit you.
Is my Functional Assessment covered by my insurance?
Generally speaking, your Functional Assessment should by billable to your 3rd party insurance under the Physiotherapy provision. If you are unsure, check with your insurance provider.
